Part 4: The Effects

All around the world, extreme hot temperature and rainfall events are becoming more common: hot days, heat waves, heavy downpours, and droughts. All of these events are consistent with what we would expect from warming temperatures.

Climate is getting more extreme, and some of the changes are positive. For example, cold extremes are becoming less frequent. And most people wouldn’t miss killer frosts or a day so cold your scarf freezes to your nose. At the other end of the spectrum, however, the hottest days are also getting hotter. The number of extreme heat days is increasing.

This is happening not just in a few locations, but around the world. And climate change is likely the reason.
